Transformation

Emerge means to rise from obscurity or difficulty into visibility and strength.

It represents overcoming challenges, discovering one's potential, and taking control of the future. For young women, emerging means breaking barriers, gaining confidence, claiming their voice, and making choices that shape their lives, inspiring change in themselves and their communities.

For young women in the DRC, poverty, political violence, and gender inequality have disrupted their paths. Young Women Emerge (YWE) provides crucial resources at the right moment to spark transformation.

YWE is committed to supporting young women and girls in vulnerable situations who are already demonstrating resilience in changing their circumstances. Our role is to recognize their persistence, nurture it, and amplify its impact. By removing barriers to secondary education, facilitating vocational skills development, and fostering mentorship, YWE offers a clearer path and supportive roadmap for motivated girls and young women to take ownership of their futures. Delivering the right resources at pivotal moments—acting as a chrysalis for transformation—YWE helps spark and nurture their development, leading to their emergence and success.

YWE empowers young women through leadership trainings, mentorship, and connection to professional networks. In the short term, this builds self-esteem, increases awareness of rights, and helps prevent unwanted pregnancies and STIs. It also empowers them to make informed decisions about education, marriage, career, and family planning. Long-term, YWE advances gender equality, challenges traditional norms, and fosters a society that values women's contributions, increasing female leadership representation across sectors.
